1. I think I have a hearing problem what should I do?
You should make an appointment with a hearing professional like an audiologist for an evaluation, consultation and hearing test.

2. Are cheap hearing aids any good?
Inexpensive models are simply hearing amplifiers that will make everything louder (including all the ambient noises around you).  They are not for example, separating human voices from background noises or hear directional sounds like todays more sophisticated hearing aids are designed to do.

3. Will a hearing aid improve my quality of life?
Research on people with hearing loss and their significant others has shown that hearing aids play a significant factor in a person’s social emotional, psychological and physical well being.

More specifically, treatment of hearing loss has been shown to improve:

  • Communication in relationships
  • Social participation
  • Ease in communication
  • Emotional stability
  • Earning power
  • Sense of control over your life

4. Doesn’t hearing loss only affect older people:
Hearing loss can occur at anytime, at an age.  In fact most people with hearing loss (65%) are younger than 65.  There are six million people in the USA ages 18-44 with hearing loss, and 1.5 million are school age.
